Firstly you will need to have a copy of the No Limits core rule set, although I plan to create a very brief and simplified version of the basic rules at some point. I am also using bits of the Road Warriors set.
http://wargamesunlimited.net/nolimits/downloads.html

The basic idea is that you use a d10 system and low is good, high is bad. So stats tend to refer to what you need to roll equal to or under.

It also uses action points for characters to expend.

Right, now with what I am devising to add to those rules to create a quite expansive gang/small force based game which I plan to use in a post apoc / gritty sci fi setting.

CARD ACTIVATION SYSTEM:

Each side will need one card to represent each character, an 'ace' card and a 'joker' card. These are all then shuffled in together to form a deck.

The cards for each character represent when that character is activated. So when their card is turned over it is their activation. At the end of a turn if a character has been taken out of the game for any reason their card is removed from the deck.

The 'Ace' card: The ace card represents a lucky moment for the side it belongs to. It can be held and used at any point throughout the rest of that turn. It can be used to re-roll any die roll that one of the corresponding characters needs to make. So shooting, combat, armour saves etc. An ace can also be played in response to a 'Joker' card to cancel it, this must be in response to a joker being used. Both cards are then disposed of until next turn. Aces cannot be held over until the next turn, if they are not used they are returned to the deck at the end of the turn.

The 'Joker' card: The joker card is the reverse of the ace card in that it is used to force an opposing character to re-roll one of their die rolls. A joker card can be used to cancel the effects of an 'Ace' card but must be played in response to an ace card. Jokers used or un-used return to the deck at the end of the turn.

Current WIP

Some of the good guys WIP.

Made up from:
GW Cadian plastics
Hasselfree male human heads plus one of the wolf head varients.
Hasselfree pistol and cad gun
Heresy assault rifles and shotgun
Pig iron helmeted heads
Fenris backpacks.

Long, long time . . . .

. . . . and it's about time I did some more on my Blog!

Sorry for the serious lack of anything on here. I find it hard to find time to get stuff up on here but well double my efforts to do so.

The project is still ongoing. I have made the first squad of 5 of the good guys. I am on the third squad of neo sovs along with a tank.

I am also working on trying to get my Heresy trenchcoat gang painted and up and running. They will act as a merc gang in my setting. The new models are especially cool and I am lucky to have all but one of them now.

I have also been working on a few small fantasy warbands for use with No Quarter as I still have a love of fantasy and like to dip into it from time to time. It's been a bit of a nostalgia trip on that front in that I like the old wood elf treemen and managed to pick one up cheap, next were some old waywatchers for a low price and I am currently watching some wardancers!

Finaly my local club (Aftermath, Norwich) is looking to get into Warmaster with all of its additional rules for historics as well. We are starting with fantasy as a lot of the gamers there do warhammer fantasy, I will at some point be purchasing a orc/goblin army with giants and trolls! All of this I hope to document in more detail. I hope to improve my camera skills as well!

Neo Sov stats

Neo Sov basic stats:

Infantry:
AC RA CC ST T W CO AR
Trooper 8 4 4 4 4 1 5 3
Sqd.Sgt. 8 4 4 4 4 1 6 3

Squad size of one squad sergeant and 4-10 troopers.
The troopers are armed with an auto-carbine. The auto-carbine being a basic easy to maintain assault rifle.

Back to the war . . . .

Updates on some of the minis along with a couple of detailed shots of some of the conversions.

<img style="display:block; Before the war it was a wealthy planet that extracted its resources carefully to ensure the longevity of its wealth and the sustainable wellbeing of its people.

Major mining corporations built cities to support their workers, some independant companies built towns. Occaisionaly a miner would prospect on his own and set up a village by an area of ore concentration. Over time this would flourish and the settlement would grow.

However when the war broke out the corporations accelerated the mining extracting as much resources as they could viably to sell to the highest bidder. As the resources drained from the planet as did the wealth.

People began to leave as the mining work dried up. Others left because the processes were haphazard with vast expanses being layed to waste due to the stripping back of the ground to get to the ore quicker resulting in the creation of large desert wastelands - some even radioactive where large scale blast mining had been employed.

The surface of the planets continents now scared and wretched, are mostly devoid of human life appart from small concentrations here and there.

The planet now serves host to a penal colony. An island off the coast of one of the most desolate areas of the planet. It's inmates are of the most undesirable types. Some are ex-military, dumped as far away from the propoganda networks so to hide their crime from the enemy. Others are mass murderers. Some are political prisoners or simply those not trusted by the powers that be.

Most of the surviving inhabited towns and cities work to serve the prison guards and keepers. The capitol city hosts the Govenors residence as well as some of his most trusted men and the police headquarters.

The prisoners that can be trusted work in chaingangs manually extracting the resources that still remain. These are often dangerous and were unviable for corporations that could be sued. No one cares about the rejects of society, no one blinks an eyelid if one dies whilst working from dehydration. It simply frees up another cell for yet another criminal to inhabit.

The prisoners that have a sentance and see it out are allowed to walk free from the gates to walk along the Bridge of Retribution to eek out a life in the wastes. Having been branded on arrival they are unable to enter the capitol cities walls.

Some towns are sympathetic, others are towns founded by ex-cons. However most places tend to reject them altogether leaving them to set up settlements of their own and band together in groups to try and live and support eachother against the dangers the wilds contain.

Re-Start

Well quite simply put I found another set of free rules which already have a necromunda version of them for downloading. I will endevour to put a ling up on here tomorrow.

I will be making alterations because they are simply a pretty straight hash from Necro into 'No Limits' which is a d10 based skirmish game.

I want to factor in a new recruiting system based upon reputation rather than purchasing members with creds. Ontop of that you don't always know what you may recruit - you could end up with a green or normal ganger.

Unfortunately it means tweaking what I have done already and the likely dropping of henchmen. I am also considering using the rules for the main battles a well although I am unsure at the moment.

One thing that will stay is the concept of using a deck of cards as the initiative system . . . . again I will explain that later.

Planet 9 - on the edge.

Planet 9 is to be a concept, using the WarEngine rules, for a gang based skirmish game.

Starting a gang.

First of all you will need to create the leading character as you would build a normal character.

After creating your leader you will need to work out what his reputation is to build your gang. But if a new unit is created the first must be a head henchman, you can not have more than one head henchman in a unit.

It is important that this is adhered to because henchmen gain skills as units rather than individuals. The skills are lost if the unit looses half of its original members. Adding to the unit can be done but only by one member per post game session.

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> Hopefully with any luck this will spur me on to try and do more to update on here.

At the moment I am working on figures that will compliment the universe that I am working on, the idea is that I will be able to run a couple of campaigns - the first being a smallish sort of experiment which will take place on Planet 9 of the Fet System which was colonised by a small expedition party made up of a mix of military, science and some civilians which have since lost contact with the Alliance of Planets who chartered them.

If this mini campaign goes well I plan to write a second campaign based upon the more regular storyline which will feature battles between the Sovs and the Alliance.

To support this I am using these rules: http://warengine.darktortoise.com/index.php?title=Troop_Builder_v2.1

And I have already loosely put together some Alliance troop types, namely Marines (think US marines in Nam) and Infantry.
